NEW SECTION . 414.33 Residential rental property. 1 A city shall not adopt or enforce any regulation or 2 restriction related to the occupancy of residential rental 3 property that is based upon the existence of familial or 4 nonfamilial relationships between the occupants of such rental 5 property. 6 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect January 1, 7 2015. 8 EXPLANATION 9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 11 This bill relates to the authority of cities to regulate and 12 restrict the occupancy of residential rental property. 13 The bill provides that a city shall not adopt or enforce 14 any regulation or restriction related to the occupancy 15 of residential rental property based upon the familial or 16 nonfamilial relationships of occupants. 17 The bill takes effect January 1, 2015. 18 -1- LSB 5567XC (1) 85 aw/sc 1/ 1
