S.F. _____ Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES PROGRAMS —— RENEWAL 1 PROCESS SIMPLIFICATION. The department of human services shall 2 simplify the renewal process for programs under the purview of 3 the department by coordinating and aligning renewal processes 4 across multiple programs into a single, integrated renewal 5 process, synchronizing eligibility renewals across programs 6 for individuals who are participating in multiple programs, 7 and utilizing information collected for one program which is 8 duplicative of information required for other programs to 9 complete eligibility renewal for the other programs. The 10 department may consider expanding the online application 11 for state of Iowa services (OASIS) program to provide for 12 integrated, online renewals or utilize prepopulated renewal 13 forms or passive renewal processes to provide for renewal 14 process simplification. 15 EXPLANATION 16 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 17 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 18 This bill directs the department of human services (DHS) to 19 simplify the renewal process for programs under its purview by 20 coordinating and aligning renewal processes across multiple 21 programs into a single, integrated renewal, synchronizing 22 eligibility renewals across programs for individuals who are 23 participating in multiple programs, and utilizing information 24 collected for one program which is duplicative of information 25 required for other programs to complete eligibility renewal for 26 the other programs.
