S.F. _____ Section 1. Section 80.18, unnumbered paragraph 2, Code 1 2013, is amended to read as follows: 2 The department may expend moneys from the support allocation 3 of the department as reimbursement for replacement or repair of 4 personal items of the department’s peace officers or employees 5 damaged or destroyed during a peace officer’s or employee’s 6 course of employment. However, the reimbursement shall not 7 exceed the greater of one two hundred fifty dollars or the 8 amount agreed to under the collective bargaining agreement for 9 each item. The department shall adopt rules in accordance with 10 chapter 17A to administer this paragraph. 11 EXPLANATION 12 Code section 80.18, concerning the reimbursement for 13 replacement or repair of personal items of department of public 14 safety officers and employees, is amended to increase the 15 maximum reimbursable amount for items damaged or destroyed 16 during the course of their employment from $150 to $200. 17 The alternate maximum amount, the amount agreed upon in the 18 applicable collective bargaining agreement, is unchanged by the 19 bill. 20 -1- LSB 2133XC (2) 85 ec/nh 1/ 1
