NEW SECTION . 327H.22 Appropriation. 1 There is appropriated each year from the general fund of 2 the state to the railroad revolving loan and grant fund, from 3 moneys not otherwise appropriated, an amount sufficient to 4 supplement any other moneys credited to the fund in order to 5 carry out the purposes of this chapter and to maximize the 6 amount of any federal funds available for the maintenance and 7 improvement of railroads. 8 EXPLANATION 9 The railroad revolving loan and grant fund is a fund 10 administered by the department of transportation to provide 11 assistance for the restoration, conservation, improvement, and 12 construction of railroads and for rail economic development 13 projects. This bill provides a standing appropriation to the 14 railroad revolving loan and grant fund from moneys in the 15 general fund of the state not otherwise appropriated. The 16 amount of the appropriation is unspecified, but is intended 17 to be sufficient to supplement other available moneys to 18 accomplish the purposes of the railroad revolving loan and 19 grant program and to maximize any federal funds that might be 20 available for the maintenance and improvement of railroads. 21 -1- LSB 1617XS (4) 85 dea/nh 1/ 1
