2014,
is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

b.
Prior
to
a
student
beginning
or
returning
to
a
certified

nurse
aide
training
program,
the
program
shall
request
that
4
the
department
of
public
safety
perform
a
criminal
history
5
check
and
the
department
of
human
services
perform
child
and
6
dependent
adult
abuse
record
checks,
in
this
state,
of
the
7
student.
In
lieu
of
requesting
the
criminal
history
check
in
8
this
state,
the
program
may
conduct
a
comprehensive
national
9
criminal
history
check
that
incorporates
criminal
history
10
records
in
this
state.
The
program
may
contract
with
a
11
third
party
to
initiate
and
receive
the
record
checks
on
the
12
program’s
behalf.
The
program
or
the
program’s
contractor
13
may
access
the
single
contact
repository
established
pursuant
14
to
this
section
as
necessary
for
the
program
to
initiate
the
15
record
checks.

the
general

This
bill
relates
to
the
performance
of
background
checks
20
for
certified
nurse
aide
training
program
students.
These
21
programs
are
approved
in
accordance
with
rules
adopted
by
the
22
department
of
human
services
(DHS)
to
train
persons
seeking
to
23
be
a
certified
nurse
aide.

Current
law
requires
the
training
programs
to
request
that
25
the
department
of
public
safety
perform
a
criminal
history
26
check
and
DHS
perform
child
and
dependent
adult
abuse
record
27
checks,
in
this
state,
before
a
student
begins
or
returns
to
28
a
program.
Under
the
bill,
in
lieu
of
requesting
a
criminal
29
history
check
in
this
state
by
the
department,
the
program
30
may
instead
conduct
a
comprehensive
national
criminal
history
31
check
that
incorporates
criminal
history
records
in
this
state.

The
bill
authorizes
a
training
program
to
contract
with
a
33
third
party
to
initiate
and
receive
the
record
checks
on
the

program’s
behalf,
including
accessing
the
single
