S.F. 2098 Section 1. Section 808B.3, Code 2014, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 6. A felony offense involving human 3 trafficking in violation of chapter 710A. 4 EXPLANATION 5 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 6 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 7 This bill relates to intercepting communications involving 8 human trafficking. 9 Under the bill, the attorney general may prepare an 10 application for a court order authorizing the interception of 11 wire, oral, or electronic communications involving a felony 12 human trafficking offense under Code chapter 710A. The 13 court, subject to Code chapter 808B, may grant such an order 14 authorizing the interception of oral, wire, or electronic 15 communications by special state agents of the department of 16 public safety when the interception of such communications 17 may provide evidence of a felony offense involving human 18 trafficking. 19 -1- LSB 5980XS (2) 85 jm/nh 1/ 1
