For purposes of this subsection, “veteran” means a former 12 member of the armed forces of the United States, a former 13 member of the reserve forces of the United States, or a former 14 member of the national guard forces of this state or another 15 state, whether or not the member served on federal active 16 duty. However, “veteran” does not include a former member 17 of such forces who was discharged under other than honorable 18 conditions. 19 EXPLANATION 20 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 21 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 22 Currently, a person who is a veteran of the armed forces of 23 the United States may request that veteran status be marked on 24 the person’s driver’s license.
