S.F. 2011 Section 1. Section 155A.44, subsection 3, Code 2014, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 3. a. Prior to the administration of a vaccination or 3 immunization authorized by subsection 4 , paragraph “b” , 4 subparagraphs (2) through (4), pursuant to the required 5 protocols, a licensed pharmacist shall consult and review the 6 statewide immunization registry or health information network. 7 b. The board shall adopt rules requiring the reporting of 8 the administration of vaccines and immunizations authorized by 9 subsection 4 , paragraph “b” , subparagraphs (2) through (4), to a 10 patient’s primary health care provider , and primary physician , 11 and a statewide immunization registry or health information 12 network . 13 c. The board shall adopt rules requiring pharmacists 14 to directly report the administration of all vaccines and 15 immunizations administered by a pharmacist to the statewide 16 immunization registry within thirty days following the 17 administration of the immunization or vaccine. 18 EXPLANATION 19 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 20 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 21 This bill requires the board of pharmacy to adopt rules 22 requiring pharmacists administering vaccines or immunizations 23 to report the administration of the immunization or vaccine 24 directly to the statewide immunization registry within 30 days. 25 -1- LSB 5327XS (3) 85 ad/nh 1/ 1
