S.F. 174 Section 1. Section 261.86, subsection 1, paragraph f, Code 1 2013, is amended to read as follows: 2 f. Submits an application to the adjutant general of 3 Iowa, on forms prescribed by the adjutant general, who 4 shall determine eligibility and whose decision is final. 5 Notwithstanding any deadline established for the administration 6 of this paragraph, the adjutant general shall accept an 7 application submitted pursuant to this paragraph from an 8 otherwise eligible member of the national guard who was on 9 federal active duty at the time of such deadline. 10 EXPLANATION 11 This bill relates to the administration of the national 12 guard educational assistance program. The bill requires that 13 the adjutant general accept an application regardless of any 14 application deadline from an otherwise eligible member of the 15 national guard, provided that the otherwise eligible member was 16 on federal active duty at the time of such deadline. 17 -1- LSB 1817XS (1) 85 aw/nh 1/ 1
