H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 22.7, Code 2014, is amended by adding the 1 following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 68. Calendar entries and scheduling 3 information of a governmental body or a government body 4 unrelated to the functions, operations, or other activities 5 of the governmental body or the government body prior to the 6 occurrence of a meeting or event of the governmental body or 7 the government body. This subsection does not apply to public 8 notice requirements pursuant to section 21.4. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill creates an exception to the public records law 13 in Code chapter 22 that requires records of a government 14 body to be made public. The bill provides that under Code 15 section 22.7, unless otherwise ordered by a court, by the 16 lawful custodian of the records, or by another person duly 17 authorized to release such information, calendar entries and 18 scheduling information unrelated to the functions, operations, 19 or other activities of a governmental body (Code chapter 21 —— 20 open meetings) or a government body (Code chapter 22 —— open 21 records) shall be confidential prior to the occurrence of a 22 meeting or event of the governmental body or the government 23 body.
