H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 144.46, subsection 2, Code 2014, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 2. Fees collected by the state registrar and by the county 3 registrar on behalf of the state under this section shall 4 be deposited in the general fund of the state and the vital 5 records fund established in section 144.46A in accordance with 6 an apportionment established by rule. Fees collected by the 7 county registrar pursuant to section 331.605, subsection 1 , 8 paragraph paragraphs “f” and “0g” , shall be deposited in the 9 county general fund. 10 Sec. 2. Section 331.605, subsection 1, paragraphs f and g, 11 Code 2014, are amended to read as follows: 12 f. A county fee of four dollars for a certified copy of a 13 birth record , or death record , or marriage certificate . 14 g. For filing an application for the license to marry, 15 thirty-five dollars, which includes payment for one certified 16 copy of the original certificate of marriage, to be issued 17 following filing of the original certificate of marriage, four 18 fourteen dollars of which shall be retained by the county 19 pursuant to paragraph “f” “0g” . For issuing an application 20 for an order of the district court authorizing the validation 21 of a license to marry before the expiration of three days 22 from the date of issuance of the license, five dollars. The 23 district court shall authorize the early validation of a 24 marriage license without the payment of any fees imposed in 25 this paragraph upon showing that the applicant is unable to pay 26 the fees. 27 Sec. 3. Section 331.605, subsection 1, Code 2014, is amended 28 by adding the following new paragraph: 29 NEW PARAGRAPH . 0g. A county fee of fourteen dollars for a 30 certified copy of a marriage certificate. 31 EXPLANATION 32 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 33 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 34 This bill increases the fee for a certified copy of a 35 -1- LSB 5724YC (3) 85 ad/sc 1/ 2
