H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 148F.6, subsection 1, paragraph a, Code 1 2014, is amended to read as follows: 2 a. A person shall not work as an assistant to an orthotist 3 or prosthetist or provide patient care services or fabrication 4 of orthoses or prostheses, unless the work is performed 5 under the supervision of a licensed orthotist , or licensed 6 prosthetist , or other person licensed or certified in a 7 health profession described in section 147.1, subsection 6, 8 approved by the board to provide supervision of an orthotist or 9 prosthetist assistant . 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 The bill provides that an orthotist or prosthetist assistant 14 may work as an assistant or provide patient care services or 15 fabrication of orthoses or prostheses under the supervision of 16 a licensed or certified health professional in a profession 17 approved by the board of podiatry.
