SECTION
.
135.45
Reporting
immunizations
to
1
registry.

1.
A
health
care
provider,
hospital,
clinic,
pharmacy,
3
health
care
facility,
local
board
of
health,
public
4
health
agency,
or
other
person
or
entity
that
administers
5
vaccines
shall
directly
report
any
immunization
or
vaccine
6
administration
to
the
statewide
immunization
registry
within
7
thirty
days
following
the
administration
of
the
immunization
8
or
vaccine.

The
department
shall
adopt
rules
to
implement
the
10
requirements
of
this
section.

Sec.
2.
Section
155A.44,
subsection
3,
Code
2014,
is
amended
12
to
read
as
follows:

3.
Prior
to
the
administration
of
a
vaccination
or
14
immunization
authorized
by
subsection
4
,
paragraph
“b”
,
15
subparagraphs
(2)
through
(4),
pursuant
to
the
required
16
protocols,
a
licensed
pharmacist
shall
consult
and
review
the
17
statewide
immunization
registry
or
health
information
network.

The
board
shall
adopt
rules
requiring
the
reporting
of
the
19
administration
of
vaccines
and
immunizations
authorized
by
20
subsection
4
,
paragraph
“b”
,
subparagraphs
(2)
through
(4),
to
21
a
patient’s
primary
health
care
provider,
primary
physician,
22
and
a
the
statewide
immunization
registry
or
health
information
23
network
as
provided
in
section
135.45
.

EXPLANATION
25
The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
26
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
requires
any
entity
or
person
administering
a
28
vaccine
or
immunization
to
report
the
administration
of
that
29
immunization
or
vaccine
directly
to
the
statewide
immunization
30
registry
within
30
days
following
the
administration
of
the
31
vaccine.
The
bill
also
makes
changes
in
the
pharmacy
Code
32
chapter
to
reflect
the
mandatory
reporting
requirement.
33
The
bill
directs
the
department
of
public
health
to
adopt
34
rules
to
implement
the
reporting
requirement.
