SMITH , LANDON , BACON , DEYOE , ABDUL-SAMAD , WESSEL-KROESCHELL , HUSEMAN , MASCHER , ANDERSON , KLEIN , GASKILL , KRESSIG , PRICHARD , and SANDS A Resolution honoring the life and career of Royce 1 White. 2 WHEREAS, plagued with anxiety disorder, Royce White 3 has pursued a basketball career with both struggle and 4 determination, currently playing for the Rio Grande 5 Valley Vipers of the NBA Development League; and 6 WHEREAS, Mr. White began his career as a high school 7 phenomenon —— he was named the 2009 Minnesota Mr. 8 Basketball and was a two-time Minnesota State High 9 School League (MSHSL) championship team member; and 10 WHEREAS, preceding his 2011-2012 season at Iowa 11 State, Mr. White was voted the Big 12 Preseason 12 Newcomer of the Year and later won the Phillips 66 Big 13 12 Rookie of the Week award; and 14 WHEREAS, Mr. White led the 2011-2012 Cyclones in 15 points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocked shots 16 and was the only Division I basketball player to lead 17 his team in all five statistics, he was named the 18 unanimous Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and recognized 19 as a first team All-Big 12 and a unanimous Big 12 20 All-Rookie Team selection, and he was selected as an 21 honorable mention Associated Press 2012 NCAA Men’s 22 Basketball All-American; and 23 WHEREAS, Mr. White was the 16th selection in the 24 2012 NBA Draft, drafted by the Houston Rockets; and 25 -1- LSB 2528HH (2) 85 jr/nh 1/ 2
