House Resolution 32 - Introduced HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 32 BY M. SMITH A Resolution recognizing Representative David E. Heaton 1 as the 2012 recipient of the Herbert Hoover Uncommon 2 Public Service Award. 3 WHEREAS, Herbert Hoover was both a visionary and 4 dedicated public servant and through his tireless 5 efforts millions of lives were saved in the years after 6 World War I; and 7 WHEREAS, to honor that spirit of public service the 8 Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association has 9 created the Herbert Hoover Uncommon Public Service 10 Award; and 11 WHEREAS, the association annually presents the 12 Herbert Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award to 13 Iowa legislators who exemplify President Hoover’s 14 humanitarian efforts and have gone above and beyond 15 the call of duty to demonstrate uncommon service and 16 commitment to the people of Iowa; and 17 WHEREAS, in 2012, the association awarded the sixth 18 annual Herbert Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award to 19 Representative David E. Heaton; and 20 WHEREAS, Representative Heaton combined two 21 decades of public service with a career in main-street 22 business; and 23 WHEREAS, in his public career Representative Heaton 24 embodies a commitment to fiscal restraint, combined 25 with a deep and abiding concern for those in need; and 26 WHEREAS, these two traits demonstrate that 27 Representative Heaton embodies the spirit of Herbert 28 -1- LSB 2512HH (2) 85 jr/rj 1/ 2
H.R. 32 Hoover himself and has clearly earned the 2012 Herbert 1 Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award; NOW THEREFORE, 2 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That 3 the House of Representatives thanks the Herbert Hoover 4 Presidential Library Association for the creation of 5 the Herbert Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award and 6 congratulates Representative Heaton on receiving the 7 2012 award. 8 -2- LSB 2512HH (2) 85 jr/rj 2/ 2
