House Resolution 30 - Introduced HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 30 BY UPMEYER and DUNKEL A Resolution honoring the Sukup Manufacturing Company 1 for a half century of manufacturing innovation and 2 public service. 3 WHEREAS, fifty years ago Eugene Sukup modified an 4 auger in a Sheffield machine shop, making it capable of 5 loosening hot spots and preventing spoilage in stored 6 corn, thereafter improving his invention and patenting 7 it, and the Sukup Manufacturing Company was born; and 8 WHEREAS, from that modest beginning, the 9 Sukup Manufacturing Company has grown to include 10 500 employees, six distribution centers, and a 11 manufacturing facility; and 12 WHEREAS, over the last half century the Sukup 13 Manufacturing Company has become the largest 14 family-owned grain storage, handling, and drying 15 manufacturer in the world; and 16 WHEREAS, innovation and dedication have been the key 17 to company success, with the company holding over 80 18 patents and Mr. Sukup being inducted into both the Iowa 19 Inventors Hall of Fame and the Iowa Business Hall of 20 Fame; and 21 WHEREAS, the extended Sukup family and the 22 company share their success and good fortune with 23 others, supporting charitable and other good works 24 on a worldwide, statewide, and community basis; NOW 25 THEREFORE, 26 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 27 That the House of Representatives congratulates the 28 -1- LSB 2106HH (4) 85 jr/nh 1/ 2
