TAYLOR , HUNTER , MASCHER , McCARTHY , THOMAS , LANDON , STECKMAN , WOOD , HALL , UPMEYER , WORTHAN , HANUSA , HAGENOW , RAYHONS , DEYOE , FRY , SODERBERG , BYRNES , MOORE , FORRISTALL , DRAKE , DOLECHECK , and KOESTER A Resolution honoring the 133rd Test Squadron of the 1 Iowa National Guard. 2 WHEREAS, the 133rd Test Squadron of the Iowa 3 National Guard has a critical role in our country’s 4 defense —— the squadron tests communication gear, 5 radar, data links, and software before it is issued to 6 all branches of the military; and 7 WHEREAS, the squadron began in 1948 as an aircraft 8 control and warning squadron, and saw its first action 9 during the Korean War in 1951; and 10 WHEREAS, the 133rd spent half a century watching the 11 skies, serving around the globe in missions involving 12 air battle management, refueling, early warning, 13 -1- LSB 2264HH (3) 85 jr/nh 1/ 2
H.R. 29 homeland defense, protecting the President of the 1 United States, counter drug, and defending the War on 2 Terrorism; and 3 WHEREAS, the unit has been rerolled into a 4 “one-of-a-kind” test squadron tasked with the 5 mission of operational and development testing and 6 evaluation of new and emerging command, control, 7 communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, 8 and reconnaissance technologies; and 9 WHEREAS, the 133rd Test Squadron received the 2012 10 Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and was singled out 11 for a number of accomplishments, including conducting 12 22 developmental and operational tests on $84 million 13 worth of new equipment; NOW THEREFORE, 14 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That 15 the House of Representatives honors the members of the 16 133rd Test Squadron of the Iowa National Guard for over 17 six decades of service to America. 18 -2- LSB 2264HH (3) 85 jr/nh 2/ 2
