SMITH A Resolution celebrating the fine arts in Iowa’s 1 schools and communities. 2 WHEREAS, music, drama, and the visual arts have 3 always played a valuable role in Iowa education and in 4 Iowa’s communities; and 5 WHEREAS, at all educational levels Iowa’s schools 6 offer a variety of fine arts education and experience 7 that can enrich students’ lives and broaden students’ 8 horizons; and 9 WHEREAS, every year young Iowans hone their skills 10 in school theatrics, singing groups, bands, and art 11 studios; and 12 WHEREAS, those experiences sometimes lead 13 to a lifelong career, and sometimes a lifelong 14 avocation; and 15 WHEREAS, whichever path is chosen, the fine arts 16 bring enrichment and enjoyment, adding vibrancy to 17 community life and a sense of accomplishment and 18 purpose to the individual; NOW THEREFORE, 19 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That 20 the House of Representatives urges all Iowans to enrich 21 their lives and their communities by taking advantage 22 of the fine arts programs providing educational, 23 professional, and individual opportunities throughout 24 the state; and 25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of 26 Representatives urges all schools, public and private, 27 to offer a variety of fine arts opportunities to their 28 -1- LSB 5860HH (3) 85 jr/rj 1/ 2
