Section
724.23,

amended
to
read
as

follows:

724.23
Records
kept
by
commissioner
and
issuing
officers
.

1.
The
commissioner
of
public
safety
shall
maintain
a
4
permanent
record
of
all
valid
permits
to
carry
weapons
and
of
5
current
permit
revocations.

2.
Notwithstanding
any
other
law
or
rule
to
the
contrary,
7
the
commissioner
of
public
safety
and
any
issuing
officer
8
shall
keep
confidential
the
names
and
addresses
of
holders
of
9
nonprofessional
permits
to
carry
weapons
and
permits
to
acquire
10
pistols
or
revolvers.

EXPLANATION
12
Current
law
requires
the
commissioner
of
public
safety
13
to
maintain
a
permanent
record
of
all
valid
permits
to
14
carry
weapons
and
of
current
permit
revocations.
This
bill
15
provides
that,
notwithstanding
any
other
law
or
rule
to
the
16
contrary,
the
commissioner
of
public
safety
and
any
issuing
17
officer
(county
sheriff)
shall
keep
confidential
the
names
18
and
addresses
of
holders
of
nonprofessional
permits
to
carry
19
weapons
and
permits
to
acquire
pistols
or
revolvers.
