H.F. 385 Section 1. Section 331.301, Code 2013, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 17. The board of supervisors may by 3 resolution require the county commissioner of elections to 4 submit nonbinding questions to the registered voters at the 5 general election pursuant to section 331.306A. 6 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION . 331.306A Survey of registered voters. 7 The board of supervisors may, not later than sixty-nine days 8 before the general election, adopt a resolution to submit not 9 more than three questions under this section relating to the 10 duties, powers, organization, or policies of the county to the 11 registered voters of the county and shall direct the county 12 commissioner of elections to submit any such questions to the 13 registered voters at the general election. The results of the 14 election on a question submitted under this section are not 15 binding on the board of supervisors. 16 EXPLANATION 17 This bill allows a county board of supervisors to have not 18 more than three nonbinding questions related to the duties, 19 powers, organization, or policies of the county submitted to 20 the registered voters of that county at a general election. 21 -1- LSB 1819YH (3) 85 aw/sc 1/ 1
