H.F. 350 Section 1. Section 53.2, subsection 1, paragraph a, Code 1 2013, is amended to read as follows: 2 a. Any registered voter, under the circumstances specified 3 in section 53.1 , may on any day, except election day, and not 4 more than seventy days prior to the date of the election, apply 5 in person for an absentee ballot at the commissioner’s office 6 or at any location designated by the commissioner. However, 7 for those elections in which the commissioner directs the polls 8 be opened at noon pursuant to section 49.73 , a voter may apply 9 in person for an absentee ballot at the commissioner’s office 10 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on election day. 11 EXPLANATION 12 This bill relates to absentee voting at the office of the 13 county commissioner of elections. 14 The bill removes current provisions requiring that a voter 15 be allowed to vote in person at the county commissioner’s 16 office from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on election day for 17 those elections when the commissioner directs the polls to be 18 opened at noon. 19 -1- LSB 1964HV (3) 85 aw/sc 1/ 1
