H.F. 322 Section 1. Section 154E.3A, Code 2013, is amended to read 1 as follows: 2 154E.3A Temporary license. 3 Beginning July 1, 2007, an An individual who does not meet 4 the requirements for licensure by examination pursuant to 5 section 154E.3 may apply for or renew a temporary license. The 6 temporary license shall authorize the licensee to practice as a 7 sign language interpreter or transliterator under the direct 8 supervision of a sign language interpreter or transliterator 9 licensed pursuant to section 154E.3 . The temporary license 10 shall be valid for two years and may only be renewed one time in 11 accordance with standards established by rule. An individual 12 shall not practice for more than a total of four years under a 13 temporary license. The board may revoke a temporary license 14 if it determines that the temporary licensee has violated 15 standards established by rule. The board may shall adopt 16 requirements for temporary licensure to implement this section , 17 including a requirement that the applicant has completed an 18 interpreter training program . 19 EXPLANATION 20 This bill requires that applicants for temporary licensure 21 as a sign language interpreter or transliterator to have 22 completed an interpreter training program. 23 -1- LSB 2354YH (2) 85 jr/nh 1/ 1
