H.F. 2261 Section 1. Section 2.10, Code 2014, is amended by adding the 1 following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 2A. The salaries provided in this section 3 shall not be increased unless the state minimum wage rates 4 provided in section 91D.1 are increased on or after July 1, 5 2014. 6 Sec. 2. Section 7.8, Code 2014, is amended to read as 7 follows: 8 7.8 Salary —— governor, lieutenant governor. 9 The salary of the governor shall be as fixed by the general 10 assembly. 11 The salary, payment of expenses, and any per diem of the 12 lieutenant governor shall be as fixed by the general assembly. 13 The salary authorized in this section for the governor and 14 lieutenant governor shall not be increased unless the state 15 minimum wage rates provided in section 91D.1 are increased on 16 or after July 1, 2014. 17 Sec. 3. Section 9.5, Code 2014, is amended to read as 18 follows: 19 9.5 Salary. 20 The salary of the secretary of state shall be as fixed by the 21 general assembly and shall not be increased unless the state 22 minimum wage rates provided in section 91D.1 are increased on 23 or after July 1, 2014 . 24 Sec. 4. Section 11.30, Code 2014, is amended to read as 25 follows: 26 11.30 Salary. 27 The salary of the auditor of state shall be as fixed by the 28 general assembly and shall not be increased unless the state 29 minimum wage rates provided in section 91D.1 are increased on 30 or after July 1, 2014 . 31 Sec. 5. Section 12.18, Code 2014, is amended to read as 32 follows: 33 12.18 Salary. 34 The salary of the treasurer of state shall be as fixed by the 35 -1- LSB 5746YH (3) 85 tm/rj 1/ 2
H.F. 2261 general assembly and shall not be increased unless the state 1 minimum wage rates provided in section 91D.1 are increased on 2 or after July 1, 2014 . 3 Sec. 6. Section 13.9, Code 2014, is amended to read as 4 follows: 5 13.9 Salary. 6 The salary of the attorney general shall be as fixed by 7 the general assembly, and the salaries of the first assistant 8 attorney general and other assistant attorneys general shall 9 be such as may be fixed by law. The salary of the attorney 10 general shall not be increased unless the state minimum wage 11 rates provided in section 91D.1 are increased on or after July 12 1, 2014. 13 Sec. 7. Section 159.19, Code 2014, is amended to read as 14 follows: 15 159.19 Salary. 16 The salary of the secretary of agriculture shall be as fixed 17 by the general assembly and shall not be increased unless 18 the state minimum wage rates provided in section 91D.1 are 19 increased on or after July 1, 2014 . 20 EXPLANATION 21 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 22 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 23 This bill relates to wage and salary rates for certain public 24 officials and public employees. 25 The bill prohibits the salary of the members of the general 26 assembly from being increased unless the state minimum wage 27 rates in Code chapter 91D (state and federal minimum wages) are 28 increased on or after July 1, 2014. 29 The bill prohibits the salary of the governor, lieutenant 30 governor, secretary of agriculture, attorney general, auditor 31 of state, secretary of state, and treasurer of state from being 32 increased unless the state minimum wage rates are increased on 33 or after July 1, 2014. 34 -2- LSB 5746YH (3) 85 tm/rj 2/ 2
