This
bill
provides
that
the
definition
of
“employee”
for

purposes
of
Code
chapter
216,
the
Iowa
civil
rights
Act,

includes
a
student
enrolled
in
an
educational
institution
and
19
participating
in
an
internship,
regardless
of
whether
the
20
student
receives
compensation.
The
bill
defines
“internship”,
21
“student”,
and
“educational
institution”.
Penalty
provisions
22
for
discriminatory
employment
practices
are
made
applicable
to
23
discrimination
against
a
student
who
is
participating
in
an
24
internship.
