H.F. 2184 Section 1. SCHOOL FINANCE FORMULA REVIEW COMMITTEE 1 —— DUTIES. The school finance formula review committee 2 established pursuant to section 257.1, subsection 4, shall, as 3 part of its next five-year review and as part of its report 4 required to be submitted to the general assembly no later 5 than January 1, 2015, examine the per pupil expenditures 6 by school districts in the areas of math, English-language 7 arts, science, reading, social studies, vocational education, 8 foreign language, visual arts, music, library services, student 9 counseling, physical education, extracurricular activities, and 10 consumer sciences. 11 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE UPON ENACTMENT. This Act, being deemed of 12 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment. 13 EXPLANATION 14 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 15 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 16 This bill requires the school finance formula review 17 committee to examine the per pupil expenditures by school 18 districts in specified curricular and extracurricular areas. 19 Such examination is required to be part of the committee’s next 20 five-year review and part of its report that is to be submitted 21 to the general assembly no later than January 1, 2015. 22 The bill takes effect upon enactment. 23 -1- LSB 6012YH (1) 85 md/sc 1/ 1
