H.F. 2007 Section 1. Section 455F.1, subsection 4, Code 2014, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 4. “Household hazardous material” means a product used for 3 residential purposes and designated by rule of the department 4 of natural resources and may include any hazardous substance as 5 defined in section 455B.411, subsection 2 ; and any hazardous 6 waste as defined in section 455B.411, subsection 3 ; and shall 7 include but is not limited to the following materials: motor 8 oils, motor oil filters, gasoline and diesel additives, 9 degreasers, waxes, polishes, pure solvents, lacquers, thinners, 10 caustic household cleaners, spot and stain remover with 11 petroleum base, petroleum-based fertilizers, and paints with 12 the exception of latex-based paints. However, “household 13 hazardous material” does not include noncaustic household 14 cleaners, laundry detergents or soaps, dishwashing compounds, 15 chlorine bleach, personal care products, personal care soaps, 16 cosmetics, and furniture polish, or medications. 17 EXPLANATION 18 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 19 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 20 This bill relates to products included as household 21 hazardous materials. 22 The bill excludes from the definition of household hazardous 23 material noncaustic furniture polish. 24 -1- LSB 5495YH (2) 85 tm/nh 1/ 1
