S.F. _____ Section 1. Section 298.3, subsection 1, paragraph c, Code 1 2011, is amended to read as follows: 2 c. The purchase, lease, or lease-purchase of a single unit 3 of equipment or technology exceeding five hundred dollars in 4 value per unit purchase, lease, or lease-purchase transaction . 5 Each transaction may include multiple equipment or technology 6 units. 7 Sec. 2. Section 298.3, subsection 1, Code 2011, is amended 8 by adding the following new paragraph: 9 NEW PARAGRAPH . n. The purchase, lease, or lease-purchase of 10 desks, furniture, or fixtures exceeding five hundred dollars in 11 value per purchase, lease, or lease-purchase transaction. Each 12 transaction may include multiple desk, furniture, or fixture 13 units. 14 Sec. 3. APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to school budget 15 years beginning on or after July 1, 2011. 16 EXPLANATION 17 This bill amends the purposes for which revenues from the 18 physical plant and equipment levies may be expended. The bill 19 provides that revenues may be used for the purchase, lease, 20 or lease-purchase of equipment or technology exceeding $500 21 in value per purchase, lease, or lease-purchase transaction. 22 The bill allows each transaction to include multiple equipment 23 or technology units. Current law requires each equipment or 24 technology unit to have a cost exceeding $500. 25 The bill also allows the use of such revenues for the 26 purchase, lease, or lease-purchase of desks, furniture, or 27 fixtures exceeding $500 in value per purchase, lease, or 28 lease-purchase transaction.
