Section
1.
Section
153.21,
Code
2011,
is
amended
by
striking
1
the
section
and
inserting
in
lieu
thereof
the
following:

153.21
License
by
credentials.
3
The
board
may
issue
a
license
under
this
chapter
without
4
examination
to
an
applicant
who
furnishes
satisfactory
proof
5
that
the
applicant
meets
all
of
the
following
requirements:

1.
Holds
a
license
from
a
similar
dental
board
of
another
7
state,
territory,
or
district
of
the
United
States
under
8
requirements
equivalent
or
substantially
equivalent
to
those
9
of
this
state.

2.
Has
satisfied
at
least
one
of
the
following:
11
a.
Passed
an
examination
administered
by
a
regional
or
12
national
testing
service,
which
examination
has
been
approved
13
by
the
dental
board
in
accordance
with
section
147.34,
14
subsection
1.
15
b.
Has
for
three
consecutive
years
immediately
prior
to
16
the
filing
of
the
application
in
this
state
been
in
a
legal
17
practice
of
dentistry
or
dental
hygiene
in
such
other
state,
18
territory,
or
district
of
the
United
States.

3.
Furnishes
such
other
evidence
as
to
the
applicant’s
20
qualifications
and
lawful
practice
as
the
board
may
require.

EXPLANATION
22
Current
law
provides
that
a
dentist
or
dental
hygienist
with
23
an
out-of-state
license
may
get
an
Iowa
license
by
passing
a
24
written
examination
and
providing
evidence
of
three
years
of
25
experience.
This
bill
provides
that
the
applicant
may
either
26
pass
a
written
examination
or
provide
evidence
of
three
years
27
of
experience.
