1.
The
board
may
approve
pilot
or
demonstration
research
3
projects
of
innovative
applications
in
the
practice
of
4
pharmacy.
The
board
shall
adopt
rules
and
procedures
for
5
application
for
and
approval
of
such
projects.
Any
project
6
approved
by
the
board
shall
comply
with
the
rules
and
7
procedures
adopted
for
such
projects.

2.
The
approval
of
a
project
may
include
the
granting
of
9
exceptions
to
any
administrative
rule
under
the
purview
of
the
10
board
of
pharmacy,
as
necessary
to
complete
the
project,
for
11
the
duration
of
the
project.

3.
The
board
shall
not
approve
any
project
that
includes
13
therapeutic
substitution
or
substitution
of
a
medical
device
14
used
in
patient
care,
or
which
expands
the
practice
of
pharmacy
15
as
defined
in
section
155A.3.

EXPLANATION
17
This
bill
authorizes
the
board
of
pharmacy
to
approve
pilot
18
or
demonstration
research
projects
of
innovative
applications
19
in
the
practice
of
pharmacy.
The
board
must
adopt
rules
and
20
procedures
for
application
for
and
approval
of
such
projects,
21
and
any
project
approved
must
comply
with
the
rules
and
22
procedures
adopted.
The
approval
of
a
project
may
include
23
the
granting
of
exceptions
to
any
administrative
rule
under
24
the
purview
of
the
board
of
pharmacy
necessary
to
complete
25
the
project
for
the
duration
of
the
project.
The
board
is
26
prohibited
from
approving
any
project
that
includes
therapeutic
27
substitution
or
substitution
of
a
medical
device
used
in
28
patient
care,
or
which
expands
the
definition
of
the
practice
29
of
pharmacy.
