appropriation

1.
a.
The
state
board
of
regents
shall
establish
and
7
maintain
at
Iowa
City
as
an
integral
part
of
the
state
8
university
of
Iowa
the
international
center
for
talented
and
9
gifted
education.
The
international
center
shall
provide
10
programs
to
assist
classroom
teachers
to
teach
gifted
and
11
talented
students
in
regular
classrooms,
provide
programs
12
to
enhance
the
learning
experiences
of
gifted
and
talented
13
students,
serve
as
a
center
for
national
and
international
14
symposiums
and
policy
forums
for
enhancing
the
teaching
of
15
gifted
and
talented
students,
and
undertake
other
appropriate
16
activities
to
enhance
the
programs
of
the
center,
including,
17
but
not
limited
to,
coordinating
and
working
with
the
world
18
council
for
gifted
and
talented
children,
incorporated.

An
international
center
endowment
fund
is
established
20
at
the
state
university
of
Iowa
and
gifts
and
grants
to
the
21
international
center
and
investment
earnings
and
returns
on
22
the
endowment
fund
shall
be
deposited
in
the
fund
and
may
be
23
expended
by
the
state
university
of
Iowa
for
the
purposes
for
24
which
the
international
center
was
established.

advanced
placement
academy
science,

technology,
engineering,
and
mathematics
initiative
is

established
within
the
international
center
for
talented
and

gifted
education
at
the
state
university
of
Iowa
to
deliver,

an
emphasis
on
science,
technology,
engineering,
and
30
mathematics
coursework,
preadvanced
placement
and
advanced
31
placement
courses
to
high
school
students
throughout
the
state,

provide
training
opportunities
for
teachers
to
learn
how
to

teach
advanced
placement
courses
in
Iowa’s
high
schools,
and

provide
preparation
for
middle
school
students
to
ensure

is
appropriated
from
the
general
fund
of
the
state

to
the
state
board
of
regents
for
each
fiscal
year
the
sum
of

hundred
and
fifty
thousand
dollars
for
allocation
to
the

state
university
of
Iowa
for
purposes
of
administering
the

Iowa
online
advanced
placement
academy
science,
technology,

engineering,
and
mathematics
initiative
in
accordance
with
this
7
subsection.

EXPLANATION
9
This
bill
establishes
within
the
international
center
10
for
talented
and
gifted
education
at
the
state
university
11
of
Iowa
the
Iowa
online
advanced
placement
academy
STEM
12
initiative,
the
purpose
of
which
is
to
deliver,
with
an
13
emphasis
on
science,
technology,
engineering,
and
mathematics
14
coursework,
preadvanced
placement
and
advanced
placement
15
courses
to
high
school
students
throughout
the
state,
provide
16
training
opportunities
for
teachers
to
learn
how
to
teach
17
advanced
placement
courses
in
Iowa’s
high
schools,
and
provide
18
preparation
for
middle
school
students
to
ensure
success
in
19
high
school.
20
The
bill
also
establishes
a
standing
limited
appropriation
21
from
the
general
fund
of
the
state
to
the
state
board
of
22
regents
for
each
fiscal
year
the
sum
of
$750,000
for
allocation
23
to
the
university
of
Iowa
for
purposes
of
administering
the
24
Iowa
online
advanced
placement
academy
STEM
initiative.
