S.F. 427 Section 1. Section 99B.7, subsection 8, Code 2011, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 8. a. A qualified organization licensed under this section 3 shall purchase bingo equipment and supplies only from a 4 manufacturer or a distributor licensed by the department. 5 b. A qualified organization may also lease electronic bingo 6 equipment from a manufacturer or distributor licensed by the 7 department for the purposes of aiding disabled individuals 8 during a bingo occasion. “Electronic bingo equipment” for the 9 purposes of this paragraph means an electronic device that aids 10 in the use of a bingo card during a bingo game. Such electronic 11 bingo equipment shall only be permitted for use by disabled 12 individuals. 13 EXPLANATION 14 This bill allows a qualified organization, for the purpose 15 of aiding disabled participants, to lease electronic bingo 16 equipment from a manufacturer or distributor licensed by the 17 department of inspections and appeals in order to aid disabled 18 persons. 19 The bill provides that “electronic bingo equipment”, for the 20 purposes of the bill, means an electronic device that aids in 21 the use of a bingo card during a bingo game. The bill specifies 22 that this equipment shall only be permitted for use by disabled 23 persons. 24 A qualified organization is defined as an organization 25 licensed by the department of inspections and appeals which 26 dedicates its net receipts from a game of skill or chance or a 27 raffle to educational, civic, public, charitable, patriotic, 28 or religious uses. 29 -1- LSB 1479SV (3) 84 aw/nh 1/ 1
