S.F. 275 Section 1. Section 237A.13, subsection 2, Code 2011, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 2. a. Services under the program may be provided in a 3 licensed child care center, a child development home, the home 4 of a relative, the child’s own home, a child care home, or in a 5 facility exempt from licensing or registration. 6 b. If services under the program are provided in a location 7 other than the child’s own home, the location shall be subject 8 to an on-site health and safety inspection. The inspection 9 shall be performed prior to provision of program services in 10 the location. A location that has successfully completed an 11 on-site child care health and safety inspection authorized by 12 the department as part of child care regulatory requirements 13 shall be deemed to have met the requirements of this paragraph. 14 EXPLANATION 15 This bill relates to provider requirements for participation 16 in the state child care assistance program established in Code 17 section 237A.13 and administered by the department of human 18 services. 19 Consistent with federal requirements for the program, 20 current law provides that services may be provided in a 21 licensed child care center, a child development home, the home 22 of a relative, the child’s own home, a child care home, or in a 23 facility exempt from licensing or registration. 24 The bill requires that if services under the program are 25 provided in a location other than the child’s own home, the 26 location is subject to an on-site health and safety inspection. 27 The inspection is required to be performed prior to provision 28 of program services in the location.
