S.F. 2207 Section 1. Section 2.40, subsection 1, paragraph a, 1 subparagraph (2), Code 2011, is amended to read as follows: 2 (2) The member shall pay the premium for the plan selected 3 on the same basis as a full-time state employee excluded from 4 collective bargaining as provided in chapter 20 . However, the 5 member shall pay a portion of the total premium for the plan 6 selected in an amount as determined by the legislative council. 7 The payment amount as determined by the legislative council 8 shall be at least two hundred dollars per month. 9 Sec. 2. STATEWIDE ELECTED EXECUTIVE OFFICIALS —— GROUP 10 HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUM COSTS. A statewide elected executive 11 official who becomes a member of a state group insurance plan 12 for employees of the state established under chapter 509A shall 13 pay a portion of the total premium for the plan selected in an 14 amount as determined by the executive council. The payment 15 amount as determined by the executive council shall be at least 16 two hundred dollars per month. 17 EXPLANATION 18 This bill provides that members of the general assembly 19 and statewide elected executive officials who become a member 20 of the state group insurance plan for employees of the state 21 established under Code chapter 509A shall pay at least $200 22 per month of the total premium for the plan selected. The 23 bill provides that, subject to the $200 per month minimum, 24 the total premium amount to be paid by members of the general 25 assembly shall be determined by the legislative council and the 26 total premium amount to be paid by statewide elected executive 27 officials shall be determined by the executive council. 28 -1- LSB 5886XS (2) 84 ec/sc 1/ 1
