S.F. 2189 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 80D.7A Nonprofessional permit to 1 carry weapons. 2 Notwithstanding sections 724.7 through 724.11, a member 3 of a reserve force who is approved by the governing body and 4 certified by the Iowa law enforcement academy council to carry 5 weapons in the line of duty shall be issued a nonprofessional 6 permit to carry weapons. 7 EXPLANATION 8 This bill provides that a reserve peace officer who is 9 approved by the appropriate governing body and certified by the 10 Iowa law enforcement academy council to carry weapons in the 11 line of duty shall be issued a nonprofessional permit to carry 12 weapons. 13 Under current law, a person who is not disqualified 14 under Code section 724.8 who satisfies the firearm training 15 requirements of Code section 724.9 and who files an application 16 pursuant to Code sections 724.10 and 724.11 shall be issued 17 a nonprofessional permit to carry weapons under Code section 18 724.7. 19 -1- LSB 5755XS (3) 84 rh/sc 1/ 1
