S.F. 2152 Section 1. Section 455B.172A, subsection 1, paragraph a, 1 subparagraph (2), Code Supplement 2011, is amended by striking 2 the subparagraph. 3 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE UPON ENACTMENT. This Act, being deemed of 4 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment. 5 EXPLANATION 6 This bill amends a provision enacted in SF 321 during the 7 2011 legislative session (2011 Iowa Acts, chapter 31) which 8 authorizes the department of natural resources to adopt by 9 rule standards for the disposal of wastewater from an on-farm 10 processing operation which processes commodities into food 11 such as a dairy, creamery, winery, distillery, cannery, 12 bakery, or meat or poultry processor (Code section 455B.172A). 13 Code section 455B.172A currently provides that wastewater 14 originating from the operation may be applied on land if a 15 number of requirements are satisfied. The bill eliminates the 16 requirement that the wastewater be land-applied by a person 17 licensed by the department to dispose of sewage pursuant to 18 Code section 455B.172(5). 19 -1- LSB 5965XS (5) 84 da/nh 1/ 1
