1.
Section
462A.31,
subsection
1,
paragraph
b,
Code

2011,
is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

b.
A
motorboat
equipped
with
any
power
unit
mounted
3
or
carried
aboard
the
vessel
may
be
operated
at
a
no-wake
4
five-mile-per-hour
speed
on
all
artificial
lakes
of
more
than
5
one
hundred
acres
in
size
under
the
custody
of
the
department.

However,
on
lake
Macbride,
a
motorboat
with
a
power
unit
7
exceeding
ten
horsepower
may
be
operated
only
when
permitted
8
by
rule
and
the
rule
shall
not
authorize
such
use
during
the
9
period
beginning
on
the
Friday
before
Memorial
Day
and
ending
10
on
Labor
Day
inclusively.
This
paragraph
does
not
limit
11
motorboat
horsepower
on
natural
lakes
under
the
custody
of
the
12
department
or
limit
the
department’s
authority
to
establish
13
special
speed
zoning
regulations.

Sec.
2.
EFFECTIVE
UPON
ENACTMENT.
This
Act,
being
deemed
of
15
immediate
importance,
takes
effect
upon
enactment.

EXPLANATION
17
This
bill
provides
that
a
motorboat
may
be
operated
at
18
a
five-mile-per-hour
speed
on
all
artificial
lakes
of
more
19
than
100
acres
in
size
under
the
custody
of
the
department
of
20
natural
resources.
Currently,
the
speed
limit
for
such
lakes
21
is
no-wake
speed.
22
The
bill
also
strikes
a
provision
limiting
the
use
of
motors
23
exceeding
10
horsepower
on
lake
Macbride
during
specified
dates
24
during
the
summer.
25
The
bill
is
effective
upon
enactment.
