Section
1.
AUTISM
WAIVER
——
MEDICAL
ASSISTANCE
PROGRAM.
The
1
department
of
human
services
shall
request
a
separate
waiver
2
from
the
centers
for
Medicare
and
Medicaid
services
of
the
3
United
States
department
of
health
and
human
services
to
4
provide
services
to
individuals
with
autism
under
the
medical
5
assistance
program.
If
the
department
of
human
services
6
receives
approval
of
the
waiver,
the
department
shall
submit
7
a
plan
for
implementation
to
the
general
assembly.
For
the
8
purposes
of
this
section,
“autism”
means
autism
as
defined
9
pursuant
to
section
256.35A.

EXPLANATION
11
This
bill
directs
the
department
of
human
services
(DHS)
to
12
request
a
separate
waiver
from
the
centers
for
Medicare
and
13
Medicaid
services
of
the
United
States
department
of
health
14
and
human
services
to
provide
services
to
individuals
with
15
autism
under
the
medical
assistance
program.
If
DHS
receives
16
approval
of
the
waiver,
DHS
is
directed
to
submit
a
plan
for
17
implementation
to
the
general
assembly.
The
bill
provides
a
18
definition
of
autism.
