Any
portion
of
an
interstate
highway
designated
as
a
scenic

byway
which
is
located
within
the
incorporated
area
of
a

city
shall
not
be
designated
as
part
of
the
scenic
byway,

except
when
such
route
within
the
incorporated
area
possesses
6
intrinsic
scenic,
historic,
recreational,
cultural,
or
7
archeological
features
which
support
designation
of
the
route

as
a
scenic
byway,
as
determined
by
the
governing
body
of
the

city.

EXPLANATION
11
This
bill
limits
the
authority
of
the
department
of
12
transportation
to
designate
certain
segments
of
interstate
13
highways
as
scenic
byways.
Under
the
bill,
if
a
portion
of
14
an
interstate
highway
designated
as
a
scenic
byway
is
located
15
within
the
corporate
limits
of
a
city,
that
portion
of
the
16
interstate
highway
shall
not
be
part
of
the
scenic
byway
17
designation
unless
the
governing
body
of
the
city
determines
18
that
the
route
through
the
city
possesses
intrinsic
scenic,
19
historic,
recreational,
cultural,
or
archeological
features
20
which
support
designation
of
the
route
as
a
scenic
byway.
