NEW
SECTION
.

Tractor
operators
exempt
1
from
commercial
driver’s
license
requirements.

Notwithstanding
any
other
provision
of
law,
a
person
is
not
3
required
to
have
a
commercial
driver’s
license
in
order
to
4
operate
a
farm
tractor.
The
department
shall
not
adopt
by
rule
5
any
federal
regulation
in
contravention
of
this
section.

EXPLANATION

Under
current
law,
a
person
is
not
required
to
have
a
8
driver’s
license
in
order
to
operate
a
farm
tractor
or
9
implement
of
husbandry
to
or
from
the
home
farm
buildings
to
10
any
adjacent
or
nearby
farmland
for
the
exclusive
purpose
of
11
conducting
farm
operations.
This
bill
prohibits
requiring
12
a
commercial
driver’s
license
for
any
operation
of
a
farm
13
tractor.
The
bill
further
provides
that
if
federal
regulations
14
ever
require
a
person
to
have
a
commercial
driver’s
license
15
in
order
to
operate
a
farm
tractor,
the
department
of
16
transportation
shall
not
adopt
such
a
federal
regulation
by
17
rule.
