Senate Concurrent Resolution 8 - Introduced SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 8 BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION (SUCCESSOR TO LSB 2731XC) A Concurrent Resolution supporting the reuse and 1 repurposing of the former Veterans Affairs Hospital 2 campus in Knoxville, Iowa in order to provide 3 services to veterans of the United States armed 4 forces. 5 WHEREAS, Iowa has a proud tradition of supporting 6 veterans who have fought to protect us all; and 7 WHEREAS, the former Veterans Affairs Hospital 8 in Knoxville, Iowa has provided needed services to 9 generations of veterans; and 10 WHEREAS, the community of Knoxville has developed 11 a distinguished tradition of service to these 12 veterans; and 13 WHEREAS, the former Veterans Affairs Hospital campus 14 in Knoxville is available and has the capacity to 15 support needed services to veterans communities; and 16 WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the State of 17 Iowa is aware of several proposals for the reuse and 18 repurposing of the former Veterans Affairs Hospital 19 campus in Knoxville in service to our nation’s 20 veterans; and 21 WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the State of Iowa 22 commends all groups submitting such proposals in order 23 to continue to serve veterans communities through the 24 reuse and repurposing of the former Veterans Affairs 25 Hospital campus in Knoxville; NOW THEREFORE, 26 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF 27 -1- LSB 2731SV (2) 84 aw/rj 1/ 2
S.C.R. 8 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, That the General Assembly 1 of the State of Iowa urges the United States Department 2 of Veterans Affairs to thoroughly consider all 3 proposals and take those actions necessary to support 4 the proposal which best serves the veterans of our 5 nation; and 6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon passage, the 7 Secretary of the Senate immediately transmit a copy 8 of this resolution to the Honorable Eric Shinseki, 9 Secretary of the United States Department of Veterans 10 Affairs. 11 -2- LSB 2731SV (2) 84 aw/rj 2/ 2
