NEW SECTION . 135J.8 Reciprocal agreements for 1 hospice care. 2 The department may enter into a reciprocal agreement with 3 the licensing authority of a contiguous state for the purpose 4 of allowing hospices in each state to serve people across state 5 lines, provided such licensing authority imposes licensure 6 requirements substantially equivalent to those imposed in this 7 state. The department may establish by rule the conditions for 8 such reciprocal agreements. 9 EXPLANATION 10 This bill allows the department of inspections and appeals 11 to enter into reciprocal agreements with contiguous states 12 allowing hospices to serve people across state lines. To 13 enter into such agreement, the contiguous state must impose 14 licensure requirements similar to those imposed in Iowa.
