H.F. _____ Section 1. NEW SECTION . 481A.49 Pheasant hunting —— season 1 —— bag limits. 2 1. The open season for hunting pheasants shall be the last 3 Saturday in October through December 15. 4 2. The daily bag limit is two cock birds and the possession 5 limit is eight cock birds. 6 3. The commission shall adopt rules pursuant to chapter 17A 7 to implement this section. 8 Sec. 2. Section 805.8B, subsection 3, paragraph h, 9 unnumbered paragraph 1, Code 2011, is amended to read as 10 follows: 11 For violations of section sections 481A.48 and 481A.49 12 relating to restrictions on game birds and animals and pheasant 13 hunting season and bag limits , the scheduled fines are as 14 follows: 15 EXPLANATION 16 This bill shortens the open season for hunting pheasants 17 by ending the season on December 15 instead of on January 18 10 of the succeeding year, as is currently allowed pursuant 19 to administrative rules adopted by the natural resource 20 commission. The bill also reduces the daily bag limit from 21 three to two cock birds and the possession limit from 12 to 22 eight cock birds. A violation of a provision of the bill 23 is subject to a scheduled fine pursuant to Code section 24 805.8B(3)(h) with the fine varying depending on the nature of 25 the violation. 26 The commission is required to adopt rules pursuant to Code 27 chapter 17A to implement the new provisions. 28 -1- LSB 5233HC (3) 84 av/nh 1/ 1
