H.F. _____ Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES —— STATE 1 BUILDING AND OFFICE SPACE LIGHTING —— REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. 2 1. The department of administrative services shall issue a 3 request for proposals concerning options for achieving the most 4 efficient and cost-effective method of providing lighting in 5 buildings and office space owned or leased by the state or a 6 state agency. The department shall consider bids from vendors 7 submitting proposals incorporating more energy-efficient 8 lighting configurations, forms of delivery, and hours of 9 illumination, at a comparable or lower lighting cost than 10 currently incurred by the state, with regard to existing and 11 anticipated state-owned or leased office space. 12 2. The department shall issue the request for proposals by 13 July 1, 2012, and shall submit a written report to the general 14 assembly concerning the results of the request for proposals 15 and any recommendations by January 1, 2013. 16 EXPLANATION 17 This bill directs the department of administrative services 18 to issue a request for proposals concerning efficient and 19 low-cost lighting options in buildings and office space 20 owned or leased by the state or a state agency. The bill 21 provides that the department shall consider bids from vendors 22 submitting proposals incorporating more energy-efficient 23 lighting configurations, forms of delivery, and hours of 24 illumination, at a comparable or lower lighting cost than 25 currently incurred by the state, with regard to existing and 26 anticipated state-owned or leased office space.
