SMITH , KAUFMANN , HORBACH , and SWEENEY A Resolution recognizing the Hoover Uncommon Public 1 Service Award. 2 WHEREAS, Herbert Hoover was both a visionary and 3 dedicated public servant and through his tireless 4 efforts millions of lives were saved in the years after 5 World War I; and 6 WHEREAS, to honor that spirit of public service the 7 Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association has 8 created the Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award; and 9 WHEREAS, the association annually presents 10 the Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award to Iowa 11 legislators who exemplify President Hoover’s 12 humanitarian efforts and have gone above and beyond 13 the call of duty to demonstrate uncommon service and 14 commitment to the people of Iowa; and 15 WHEREAS, in 2012, the association awarded the 16 sixth annual Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award to 17 Representative Royd Chambers; and 18 WHEREAS, Royd Chambers has lived a life dedicated to 19 public service, as a community leader, as an educator, 20 as a legislator, and as a soldier; and 21 WHEREAS, Royd Chambers embodies the spirit of the 22 Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award; NOW THEREFORE, 23 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 24 That the House of Representatives thanks the Herbert 25 Hoover Presidential Library Association for the 26 creation of the Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award 27 and congratulates Representative Chambers on receiving 28 -1- LSB 6108HH (7) 84 jr/rj 1/ 2
