H.F. 577 Section 1. Section 595.2, subsection 1, Code 2011, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 1. Only a marriage between a male and a female is valid. 3 The supreme court shall not have appellate jurisdiction over 4 the laws determining the validity of a marriage in the state. 5 EXPLANATION 6 This bill amends the marriage statute (Code chapter 595) 7 specifying that only a marriage between a man and a woman 8 is valid to provide that the supreme court shall not have 9 appellate jurisdiction over the laws determining the validity 10 of a marriage in the state. 11 -1- LSB 2517HH (1) 84 pf/rj 1/ 1
