H.F. 335 Section 1. Section 476.42, subsection 1, paragraph a, Code 1 2011, is amended to read as follows: 2 a. A solar, wind turbine, waste management, resource 3 recovery, refuse-derived fuel, agricultural crops or residues, 4 geothermal, or woodburning facility. 5 Sec. 2. Section 476C.1, subsection 6, unnumbered paragraph 6 1, Code 2011, is amended to read as follows: 7 “Eligible renewable energy facility” means a wind energy 8 conversion facility, a biogas recovery facility, a biomass 9 conversion facility, a methane gas recovery facility, a solar 10 energy conversion facility, a geothermal energy conversion 11 facility, or a refuse conversion facility that meets all of the 12 following requirements: 13 Sec. 3. Section 476C.1, Code 2011, is amended by adding the 14 following new subsection: 15 NEW SUBSECTION . 7A. “Geothermal energy conversion facility” 16 means a geothermal energy facility in this state that converts 17 thermal energy or heat from the earth into energy to generate 18 electricity. 19 EXPLANATION 20 This bill adds “geothermal” to specified Code provisions 21 defining or relating to alternate and renewable energy, 22 including alternate energy production purchase requirements 23 imposed on electric public utilities by the Iowa utilities 24 board, and eligibility for the renewable energy tax credit. 25 -1- LSB 2648YH (3) 84 rn/nh 1/ 1
