H.F. 304 Section 1. Section 152C.3, subsection 1, paragraph a, Code 1 2011, is amended to read as follows: 2 a. Completion of a curriculum of massage education at a 3 school approved by the board which requires for admission 4 a diploma from an accredited high school or the equivalent 5 and requires completion of at least five six hundred hours 6 of supervised academic instruction. However, educational 7 requirements under this paragraph are subject to reduction 8 by the board if, after public notice and hearing, the board 9 determines that the welfare of the public may be adequately 10 protected with fewer hours of education. 11 EXPLANATION 12 This bill raises the educational requirement for licensed 13 massage therapists from 500 to 600 hours of supervised academic 14 instruction. 15 -1- LSB 2590YH (1) 84 jr/nh 1/ 1
