H.F. 26 Section 1. Section 84C.2, subsection 4, Code 2011, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 4. “Employee” means a worker , other than a seasonal 3 employee, who may reasonably expect to experience an employment 4 loss as a consequence of a proposed business closing or mass 5 layoff by an employer. 6 Sec. 2. Section 84C.2, Code 2011, is amended by adding the 7 following new subsection: 8 NEW SUBSECTION . 10A. “Seasonal employee” means an employee 9 whose employment, on an annual basis: 10 a. Is curtailed by at least forty-five percent due to 11 climatic conditions. 12 b. Ceases for a period of four months or longer due to 13 climatic conditions. 14 EXPLANATION 15 This bill exempts seasonal employees from the Iowa worker 16 adjustment and retraining notification Act.
