NEW SECTION . 357A.11A Customer records. 1 Notwithstanding section 22.2, subsection 1, public records 2 of a district, which shall not be examined or copied as 3 of right, include private customer information. Except as 4 required pursuant to chapter 476, “private customer information” 5 includes information identifying a specific customer and any 6 record of a customer account, including internet-based customer 7 account information. 8 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION . 388.9A Customer records. 9 Notwithstanding section 22.2, subsection 1, public records 10 of a city utility or combined utility system, or a city 11 enterprise or combined city enterprise as defined in section 12 384.80, which shall not be examined or copied as of right, 13 include private customer information. Except as required 14 pursuant to chapter 476, “private customer information” includes 15 information identifying a specific customer and any record of 16 a customer account, including internet-based customer account 17 information. 18 EXPLANATION 19 This bill relates to the customer records of rural water 20 districts, city utilities, and city enterprises. 21 The bill provides that public records of rural water 22 districts, city utilities, and city enterprises including 23 private customer information shall not be examined or copied as 24 of right pursuant to Code section 22.2, subsection 1.
