H.F. 2267 Section 1. Section 15.291, Code Supplement 2011, is amended 1 by adding the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 1A. “Brownfield site generation facility” 3 means a facility that generates renewable electricity from 4 wind energy, solar energy, or geothermal energy, and occupies 5 a brownfield site. 6 Sec. 2. Section 15.292, Code Supplement 2011, is amended by 7 adding the following new subsection: 8 NEW SUBSECTION . 5A. An application for financial 9 assistance in connection with a brownfield site generation 10 facility shall be given priority status with regard to 11 consideration for approval by the board. 12 EXPLANATION 13 This bill relates to the brownfield redevelopment program 14 established in Code section 15.292. 15 The bill establishes a definition of a “brownfield site 16 generation facility” as meaning a facility that generates 17 renewable electricity from wind energy, solar energy, or 18 geothermal energy, and that occupies a brownfield site. A 19 “brownfield site” is currently defined to mean an abandoned, 20 idled, or underutilized industrial or commercial facility where 21 expansion or redevelopment is complicated by real or perceived 22 environmental contamination. 23 The bill provides that an application for financial 24 assistance in connection with a brownfield site generation 25 facility pursuant to the program shall be given priority status 26 with regard to consideration for approval by the economic 27 development authority board. 28 -1- LSB 5612YH (2) 84 rn/sc 1/ 1
